After-School Enrichment Classes
Academic support, arts, sports, and emotional learning activities for children from government schools.

At the Chelsea Education and Community Center, our After-School Enrichment Program provides children from local government schools with the academic support, creative outlets, and emotional care they often lack elsewhere. These classes are more than just tutoring—they’re a safe space to grow, explore, and thrive.
Since 2011, Papa’s House has been running After School Classes to support the enrichment of its children. After the reintegration of the children into families, Papa’s House began collaborating with two government schools in Tokha Municipality—Shree Dhapasi Secondary School and Tilingatar Higher Secondary School. Students from grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 attend these after-school sessions at Papa’s House. The focus is on English and Computer education:
Grades 4 and 5 study English.
Grades 6 and 7 study both English and Computer skills.
The program has helped students strengthen their academic foundation, improve communication skills, and gain practical computer knowledge that supports their schoolwork and future studies. Many students have shown increased confidence and greater participation in classroom discussions at their regular schools.
Classes run from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM, Sunday through Thursday. On Saturdays, students take part in extracurricular activities such as dance, arts and crafts, painting, and movie sessions. These activities not only provide creative outlets but also encourage teamwork, self-expression, and problem-solving. Celebrations like Children’s Day and Winter Camp further build community spirit and create joyful memories, motivating students to engage more actively in learning.

Who we support
Children attending local government schools in and around Dhapasi in Kathmandu, especially those from marginalized communities. Currently, the program serves 120 children annually, with sessions designed to complement their formal schooling while inspiring a lifelong love for learning.
Many of these children face:
Large class sizes in school
Limited help at home
Low confidence and academic gaps
Our after-school program bridges that gap. It helps children stay in school, perform better, and feel seen and supported.
