ICDP Caregivers' Meetings

Evidence-based caregiver training sessions promoting healthy child development in the community.

We are excited to implement the International Child Development Program (ICDP)—a proven, evidence-based approach designed to promote the healthy development of children through community-based psychosocial care. ICDP offers a holistic model of early childhood development, supporting a child’s physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Successfully implemented in many countries around the world, ICDP is an ideal fit for Papa’s House as we continue to strengthen child-centered care within our community.

The program will be facilitated by ICDP-trained staff, under the supervision of Ms. Sushmita Thapa, Director of Operations at Papa’s House and a certified ICDP facilitator. Facilitators will work closely with caregivers, providing supportive, experience-based guidance rooted in empathy and cultural relevance.

Each caregiver group will participate in eight weekly sessions, each lasting approximately two hours. Session times will be scheduled in collaboration with participants to ensure accessibility and consistency.

What Is ICDP?

The ICDP is a psychosocial program grounded in research and proven in diverse cultural settings. It equips caregivers with:

  • Positive interaction strategies

  • Emotional attunement skills

  • Tools to foster children’s cognitive and social growth

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, ICDP respects local values and builds on the caregiver’s strengths.

What We Offer

  • Weekly Training Sessions: Facilitated by trained staff using structured modules and discussion.

  • Interactive Learning: Role-playing, storytelling, and reflection help caregivers apply the principles in real life.

  • Expanding Reach: We include not only parents, but also schoolteachers and women from CECC’s literacy classes.

Why It Matters

Children thrive when adults around them:

  • Listen with empathy

  • Set boundaries with love

  • Understand their emotions and behavior

By helping caregivers become more emotionally available and responsive, ICDP directly improves children’s mental health, resilience, and well-being.
